We understand that changing jobs can be highly stressful. More often than not, candidates feel a huge loyalty towards their current firm but, at the same time, recognise that they need a move. There can be many reasons for this (your career progression may have stalled or you feel you are undervalued by your current employer).
Sometimes, candidates feel pressured into moving firms by recruitment companies. At Pen & Wig Recruitment, this is something we will avoid at all costs. Before we agree to represent a candidate, he or she will be interviewed by a Consultant. The aim of this initial meeting is to build up as full a picture of the candidate as possible:
- why you are looking for a new role
- what you want to achieve within your new role (professionally, financially and personally)
- which location you would like to be based
Once we have fully understood your requirements, we will then formalise a recruitment plan you. This will involve you sending us your CV and agreeing a list of firms which you would like us to contact on your behalf. In exactly the same manner as we look after our clients, we agree timescales with you and formalise an action plan. Updates will be provided every Friday afternoon we appreciate that you will want to know about all progress being made. Once a client expresses an interest in you, we will make all the arrangements for interviews, including providing you with company information, a job brief and location maps.
Once you have attended an interview, we will provide you with prompt and accurate feedback. Should an offer be made, we will forward this to you as quickly as possible to gauge your feedback.
If, at any time throughout the process, you would like to withdraw from the recruitment process, no pressure will be put on you to reconsider.
Naturally, our consultant will endeavour to understand the reasons for your decision but, as a consultancy, we understand that you are allowed to change your mind!
Once you have accepted the offer and agreed a start date with your new firm, we will guide you through the process of your resignation. This is often the most difficult and stressful part of the recruitment process and we will offer advice and guidance on how to deal with any 'buy-back' scenario which may occur.
We will keep in regular touch with you during any notice period and also ensure you're your arrival at your new firm is smooth and hassle-free. We offer a full feedback session with you and with your new firm, where you or they can tell us which parts of the process worked well for them, or whether there were elements of our service which we can improve.
Finally, we ask all of our candidates and clients to provide a testimonial for us which then gives a point of recommendation for all our future clients and candidates.
Some of the additional services we offer our candidates free of charge include:
- Information on salary surveys
- Help with negotiating a salary increase
- Interview technique training
- Preparing for a promotional interview at work
- Advising on business plans for partner appointment
- Relocation advice

(This list is by no means exhaustive.)
